UNMASKED is a showing where viewers are invited into a deeply private collection of works from the artist Mario Lorne. The collected works offer the vibrant colors and detailed brushwork that have come to be a signature of the artist’s work. While there are similarities in style to previously exhibited works by the artist, this particular showing is an unmaking in itself, a side of Mario Lorne we rarely get to see and enjoy.

In UNMASKED viewers have the opportunity to see the world through the artist’s eyes, and hear the thoughts running through his mind. You will experience storyline, character, and Lorne’s unique perspective from his artworks to his choosing to include another artist, Maja Risvoll, to join him in his in his opportunity to exhibit at 33.G. Overall, this collection was created as a challenge by the artist to create new storylines and creative avenues of expression.

“As we grow as individuals we mask layers to build up our ego or character. This is the opposite. This is where the culture shift happens. This is when you as an individual unmask and find that indigo light with in.”

- Mario Lorne
